Spells in Vagante are available to all Adventurers by reading books.

Spell usage is limited per round and is reset when entering a resting area. The maximum usage of a spell per round can be improved by increasing the Spell level or the player's INT.

The Mage starts with Lv. 1 Frost Nova and Lv. 1 Eleclance and his abilities allows better control and damage of most spells.

The usage of spells per round increases with the level of spell and INT stat. Higher spell level also improves the spell's range and damage. The Bookworm background increases the spell level gain to 2 levels per book. The max level of any spell is 5.

Fire
Spell Icon Spell Usage Description
Flame Pillar - 0 Call forth a raging inferno before you.
Level 3 increases height of pillar.

Enchant: Enchanting flame pillar on yourself gives you a few seconds of flame aura.

Fire Shield Fire Shield Icon.png 30 Temporarily gain a shield of fire that reduces damage and burns attackers.

Requires full concentration to execute correctly.
Negates fire damage. Counters damage taken with fire damage.

Fireball Fireball spell icon.png 15 Launch a burning mass of destruction.

Fires a ball of fire in front of the caster that explodes into embers.

The longer the fireball is held, the more embers the fireball will create on trail and impact.

Ice
Spell Icon Spell Usage Description
Frost Nova Frost Nova Icon.png Unlimited Deep-freeze your surroundings.

Freezes nearby enemies with low damage. Consecutive freezes will lower freeze duration.

Does not require concentration.
Level 3 increases overall range and damage.

Iceball Iceball Icon.png 10 Toss a ball of incredibly cold magic.

Requires some concentration to execute correctly and more effectively.

Creates an ice cube on impact with a wall. Useful for climbing.
Level 3 changes spell from one iceball to three iceballs in a spread.

Lightning

Eleclance Eleclance Icon.png Unlimited Thrust with powerful photonic energies.

Shocks and damages enemies in front of you.

Does not require concentration.
Level 3 increases horizontal range.

Lightning Lightning Icon.png 15 Summon the power of storms upon your enemies.

Targets nearest enemy in front of the caster and shocks.

Requires full concentration to execute correctly.

Chain Lightning Chain lightning spell icon.png 25 Powerful electricity will arc to multiples enemies.

Targets the first enemy hit and chains electricity to nearby enemies.

Requires full concentration to execute correctly.

Magic Missile Magic Missile Icon.png 10 Cast a homing physical attack.

Greater concentration allows greater force.

Spirits Spirits spell icon.png 30 Summon spirits to protect you.

Requires some concentration to execute correctly and more effectively.
Half charge summons three spirits, full charge summons five spirits.

Enchant: Enchanting Spirits on yourself gives yourself 10-15 sec of tough skin passive buff.

Shockwave Shockwave Icon.png 20 Launch an earth-trembling wave of destruction.

Greater concentration allows greater force.
The more concentration, the farther the shockwave travels.

Evil Transformation Evil Transformation Icon.png 40 A forbidden technique developed by cursed immortal beings.

Grants life steal for around 45 seconds. Does not work against certain enemies such as the undead.

Dash Dash Icon.png 7 Dash a short distance.
Immediately casts when pressed. You can dash upwards as well.
Portal Portal spell icon.png 8 Create a portal, or teleport to an existing one. It will need full concentration to work correctly.
First and second casts create books. Enter blue book to teleport to grey book. Third cast removes books.
Blink Blink spell icon.png 12 Teleport instantly in the direction you're facing. Lack of concentration will lead to poor execution.
Premature casting randomizes the location your character will blink to.
